Susan Sarandon Bio
It was a few days after the 1968 Democratic convention, and there was an audition for a movie that featured several roles for young people who had disrupted convention. Joe (1970) was offered a role in New York by two recent Catholic University graduates. Chris Sarandon was not selected for the role, despite having previously studied acting. His wife Susan got a major role.That character was Susan Compton who is the daughter of ad executive Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill kills Susan’s drug dealer boyfriend. Then, Joe (Peter Boyle) an obnoxious gangster who works on an assembly line, and also collects guns, becomes friends with Susan. Five years later Sarandon makes the movie. Janet is a transvestite who becomes entangled with the mysterious Dr. Frank n Furter (1975). After more than 15 years, Sarandon was finally able to actively advocate for Annie in Bull Durham (1988), transporting herself between Rome to Los Angeles at her expense. "It had such a great script... It was able to do away with a lot myths, and challenged the American definitions of success," she stated. "When I arrived I had a few hours with Kevin Costner, kissed some ass at the studio and got back on a plane". Her love affair with Bull Durham (1988)) acting partner, Tim Robbins, had resulted in two sons by the year 1992. This put Sarandon in the position of having to leave her idyllic home and stepping into roles that really challenged her. There were four Academy Award nominations were received in the 1990s. The best actress award was presented for Dead Man Walking (1995) was also given. Her first Academy Award nomination was for Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980).
