Abigale Lee Mills (born September 21, 1965) was a American dance instructor, choreographer, and reality television host. Abby Lee Dance Company was founded by her. It was a part of eight seasons of the show Dance Moms. On June 27, 2016, Miller pleaded guilty to criminal bankruptcy fraud. Miller was sentenced to a year and one day in federal prison and was released on the 27th of March, 2018. In April 2018, she was diagnosed with lymphoma, that is a type of cancer that makes it difficult to walk. She relies on a wheelchair for mobility. Miller was raised in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. Her mom taught her dance at Maryen Lorrain Dance Studio. Miller was 14 when she was given choreography and instruction of one of her mother's dance competition teams. Miller was eventually able to take over the studio in 1995 and renamed it Reign Dance Productions. Miller was certified by Dance Masters of America in 1986 and was made a part of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania Chapter 10 in February 2012. However Miller's membership was revoked by DMA in February 2012 after the DMA stated that Miller's reality-TV show Dance Moms was "a complete mistake in the representation of dance educators and students and was detrimental to the profession of dance."
